3 Ways to Summerize Your Clothes

This summer, money's tight. I still go to the thrift and pick something up from time to time, but I've found that when you go to the thrift three times each week, and find a few things each time you go, you spend more money that you'd originally planned in a month's time.

Anyway, I've been trying to figure out ways to turn the clothes I'd normally abandon for the rest of my life from the previous winter into interesting pieces for the summer. So, I thought I'd give you the three simplest DIY ways to transition an unwanted winter wardrobe into summer sensationals.

If you're interested in some ways to get it right for the summer, look past the jump.

Without further or due:

1. Cut your clothes. I know it may be hard to bring yourself to do, but just remember that these are clothes you actually hate anyway. Cut off pants legs of Levi denim to make shorts (and don't be scared of a lil lower butt cleavage). Shred tees for a statement piece. Cut solid tops to make crops and rip off sleeves to make sleeveless button ups. It's a quick, sew-free way to revive a shirt and save yourself $10.

2. Roll some thangs. Sometimes the only difference between summer and winter is length. Rolling up a pair of shorts that you hate from last summer or a pair of jeans from long to a fashion length... these are game changers. I'm also a fan of the rolled up sleeve look.

3. Brighten your clothes. Now, this could count as 3 and 4 because there's two way to go about this. You can compliment and you can bleach. We'll start with compliments.
i.e. You have a grey shirt. Now, in the winter with black jeans and oxfords, this is a dark grey shirt. In the summer with white shorts and sandals, this is a light grey shirt.
Now, if you want to bleach, it's easy enough. There's lots of ways to bleach. Also, be careful because bleach can ruin some clothes. Fabrics and different dyes bleach differently. Don't have expectations when bleaching. I wouldn't recommend bleaching anything that's black. Tie-dye bleaching is cool. Ombre dying's a new practice as well. Have fun with it.

So, yes. Tis all for tonight, I think. Good night and good luck.
